New Online Counseling Service in PDX. Test Market For Future Operations.

"E Portland Counselor" is an innovative new online counseling website started by Professional Counselor, Mary Mast. Mary is a recent arrival to the Portland area from Boise, Idaho. She has deep Oregon roots having attended University of Portland. She went on to gain her M.Ed. in Counseling with a degree from College of Idaho.

Like many of us, challenges in the economy have given her the opportunity to look inward at herself and make a decision to leave her corporate job and start a new endeavor as an entrepreneur.

"I've had a long standing career in health and welfare, state and government, and pharmaceutical. But one morning I just woke up and said, it's time to take charge of my destiny. That's when I decided to get into counseling and start my own practice and put my Masters in Education to good use."

As Mary started working with her team to determine their launch strategy, Portland was chosen for its disposition towards technology. An existing comfort with chat IM for 25-40 year olds was critical. Research showed that this is the place to start.

"You can get counseling right on your computer through the chat window. It saves time and money, and problems are solved quickly." says Victor Obenauf at the company's marketing firm, Platinum Advertising Group.

As demand increases, the company plans to recruit additional Portland counselors to join the website. The ultimate goal is to expand into new markets, each with their own local counselors.
